PROTECTING THE HOARD
A recent article in the Midlands newspaper “The Express and Star”, relates how Crimesield are protecting the Staffordshire Hoard.
One of the greatest treasure finds in history, the Staffordshire
Hoard, will be protected by security systems made in
the Black Country.
Metal security barriers have been installed by Brierley Hill
firm Crime Shield Midlands for the hoard’s return to
Staffordshire. Around 80 of the 1,500 artefacts are on show at
the Potteries Museum in Stoke.
The company took full control of the manufacture and
distribution of the product last year from a US firm.
The window security barrier is a 2mm thick galvanised steel
sheet with perforations which resembles tinted glass when
viewed from a distance.
It can be mounted in front of or behind existing windows.
Around 14 windows had the Crime Shield system installed
at the museum ready for the exhibition, which runs until
March 7.
Company director Phil Doody, aged 40, says it is an honour
to be protecting the world-renowned Staffordshire hoard.
“It is wonderful for a newish company such as ourselves to
be given such a contract,” he said
