A Surestart Nursery and childrens centre were concerned about the security of their building after a recent break-in. Luckily no significant damage had occured or crucial equipment taken, but the disruption caused was enough to make them worried about future problems.

The nursery was next to local youth centre and an area around the border between the two buildings had become a hangout for the local youths. It was this area that needed extra security and crimeshield were approached to initially give advice and then subsequently install the window and door security that was needed.

 

 

 

 

 

It was decided that the best way to protect the area concerned was to secure the glass by using the “Crimeshield Barrier” over the windows, to not only protect

the windows from break-ins but also from vandalism and accidental damage (local youths playing football etc..).

The integral strenght and durability of the Crimeshield worked well on these windows whilst still retaining the natural light and ventilation giving a pleasant but secure work enviroment.

 

 

 

 

 

The entrance door was secured using a Diamond Security gate  and a multi-point locking mechanism, giving effective security at night but easy access during the day when it is used as a fire exit. A lift up track (negates any trip hazard) was added as an extra as the installation was in an area that may be used by children.
